XPEL Supports Optimum Motorsport’s Return to British GT with Jack Brown and Charles Clark

Recent news from the world of British GT is the return of Optimum Motorsport. The team initially planned to compete in GT4 in 2020, but the pandemic derailed its two-car entry. As a result, team boss Shaun Goff shifted focus to GT3. But that was then, and this is now as Optimum Motorsport unveiled its new GT4-class McLaren Artura sponsored by XPEL.

Jack Brown and Charles Clark are joining Optimum Motorsport for the ride in the XPEL McLaren Artura for the 2023 British GT season. Both drivers carry respectful resumes of proven skill. In 2021, Brown won at Spa driving a McLaren 570S GT4 with Balfe Motorsport before switching to a BMW M4. Meanwhile, Clark has been racing single-make Porsche competition since his racing debut in 2019 and is considered a rising star in the British Racing Drivers Club. He finished second overall during his first competition season in the Porsche Club GB Championship.

This year is also the domestic debut of the McLaren Artura GT4 in British GT after its public unveiling last year. The Artura replaces the outgoing McLaren 570S GT4. Instead of a V8, the McLaren Artura GT4 features a twin turbocharged V6 engine. However, unlike the production variant, the GT4-spec Artura does not feature the hybrid powertrain and is 287 pounds lighter than what you'll buy at the dealership.

The Artura GT4 also received a different seven-speed transmission over the factory eight-speed. In addition to a rear-mounted mechanical limited-slip differential and bespoke front splitter, the new rear wing provides seven adjustable levels. The space where the hybrid powertrain components would be is now used to house the car's fuel cell and ancillary drive system.

XPEL is proud to support Optimum Motorsport's return to British GT for the 2023 season. A new McLaren and a team of young, competitive drivers have the makings for a stellar racing season. We'll be watching on April 8-10 when Oulton Park hosts the opening round of the 2023 Intelligent Money British GT Championship.
