XPEL TO SUPPLY PAINT PROTECTION PRODUCTS TO AM GENERAL
- Proprietary Designs for the HUMMER H1 -SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS, May 9, 2006...XPEL Technologies Corp. (TSXV: DAP.U) today announced the signing of a supply agreement with Indiana-based AM General to provide customized versions of vehicle paint protection kits for the HUMMER H1. With the origins of AM General tracing back to 1903, AM General began preliminary design work in 1979 on the M998 Series High Mobility Multi-Purpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV - pronounced HumveeÂ®). Over the years since its introduction, the workhorse Humvee has played a prominent role during U.S. military actions in Panama, Operation Desert Storm, and more recently, in Somalia, the Balkans, Afghanistan and Iraq. More than 190,000 vehicles have been built and delivered to the U.S. Armed Forces and more than 50 friendly overseas nations. The very first civilian versions of the Humvee were introduced in 1992. Having acquired exclusive ownership of the worldwide brand name, General Motors ("GM") renamed the HUMMER, the "Hummer H1."
