SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS, August 30, 2006…XPEL Technologies Corp. (TSXV: DAP.U) announced today that through its U.K.-based Distributor Paintshield Ltd., it has completed delivery on the first OEM order of paint protection kits for installation on the 2007 Rolls Royce Phantom.
The Phantom’s aluminum space frame body is built in a BMW plant in Dingolfing, Germany, and the motor in Munich. Final assembly to each customer’s individual specifications is accomplished in West Sussex, England. The six-speed Phantom boasts a 6.8-liter, 48 valve, V-12 engine that produces 453 horsepower, capable of accelerating from zero-to-sixty miles per hour in 5.7 seconds. BMW has gone to great lengths to distinguish the Phantom from the BMW brand, even though fifteen percent of the Phantom’s components are shared with such models as the BMW 7 Series. BMW has set a lifetime limit that only 10,000 units of the Phantom will be produced.
