Porsche Parade 2018 at Lake of the Ozarks
Published On 7/17/2018
Last week marked the kick-off of Porsche Club of America's Porsche Parade 2018 at the Lake of the Ozarks. This was our 5th year attending the Parade and no doubt, it was another awesome event. As always, there was quite the selection of P-cars in attendance and on display. Inside the Tan-Tar-A resort, a rare Speedster variant sat just a few steps away from a Weissach GT2 RS.
Of course, we had something special to show off down in the Hospitality hall as well. None other than a paint-to-sample Zanzibar Red Porsche Boxster Spyder, protected with XPEL ULTIMATE by MidWest Tinting.
PCA Concours at Lake of the Ozarks
One of the most attended events at Porsche Parade 2018 had to be the Concours d'Elegance. Hosted on the greens behind the resort, the Parade Concours failed to disappoint. Nearly every model one could imagine was in attendance.
We spotted a 904 Carrera GTS, a Carrera RS, a Carrera GT, and then some. While the 918 & 959 from last year were absent, there was plenty more to see.
Up Close & Personal with the Mission E
Another big highlight of Porsche Parade 2018 happened at the Pirelli Welcoming Party. After last year's unveiling of the GT3, we were sure that PCA had something special cooked up this time around. We didn't expect Porsche to bring a prototype, but that's exactly what they did. The pre-production Porsche Mission E concept car which made way for the new Taycan was a great surprise for all Parade goers.
The styling of the Mission E is truly out of this world. One part Stuttgart, one part Tron, and all parts awesome. After seeing it in the flesh, we can't wait to get our hands on a new Taycan.
Michelin Drive & Compare at Porsche Parade
The setup: a short drag race & stop box with identical PDK Caymans. The payoff: bragging rights. In a shootout format taking the best two out of three runs, the Michelin Drive & Compare proved to be an awesome test of reaction time and stopping power. Check out the video below from PCA for a more comprehensive breakdown.
On-Location with the Gunther Werks 400R
After our brief run on gRX & eyeballing the Gulf 400R at Barrett-Jackson Northeast, it was great to see Gunther Werks flagship machine at Porsche Parade 2018. Fully protected with satin STEALTH PPF by Protective Film Solutions, the Gulf livery 400R is a sight to behold. Built off the 993 chassis, Gunther Werks vision for the 400R is a motorsport inspired masterpiece. Combining plenty of carbon fiber, a 400+ HP 4 liter developed by Rothsport, and much more, Gunther Werks 400R is a bespoke beauty with the enough bite to back up its bark.
