When most people think of Guinness World Records, the last thing that comes to mind is window tinting. Things like "longest fingernails," "most pizza eaten," or "smallest person alive" are likely strong contenders. On July 29th with the help of the SunStoppers, we set out to change all that.
For those of you who have attended an XPEL Dealer Conference in the past, you may recall a mention of World Record related happenings. For those who haven't - one of our keynote speakers, Jared Guynes, is responsible for a few of them. In particular, the largest NERF battle ever.
Upon hearing of Jared's records, Mike Burke of SunStoppers approached our very own Chris Hardy with a GWR attempt unlike anything else. An idea to tint the most vehicle windows in a day by a team of trained professionals.
PRIME TIME FOR PRIME XR PLUS at the GUINNESS WORLD RECORD TINT CHALLENGE
After months of planning, coordinating, and organizing, the Guinness World Record Tint Challenge day had arrived. We setup shop at Town & Country Ford with a massive stock of PRIME XR PLUS window tint and a seemingly endless list of cars ripe for installation.
With the honk of a horn, the Guinness World Record Tint Challenge was off & rolling. Nearly the entire stock of Town & Country was inline to receive our top-tier PRIME XR PLUS window tint. The SunStoppers team made it look easy, utilizing a wide variety of pre-cut window film patterns from out DAP software.
Over an 8 hour period, the tinters worked tirelessly to install PRIME XR PLUS on everything that rolled into the service bay. It was a long day for everyone involved, but an experience unlike any other.
Winner, Winner, Window Tinters
As the work day wound down & the rows of cars to tint started to get shorter, the finish line for our Guinness World Record Tint Challenge was in sight. As you can see in the recap video above, we finished the day off strong with a SRT Challenger contributed by YouTube's very own SaabKyle04.
Once the final window was complete & the day was over, it was time to run the numbers. The record setting tally clocked in at 170 cars in total, with film applied to 438 windows - not counting the small, quarter glass. It was, as Guinness puts it - #OfficiallyAmazing.
Big thanks to the SunStoppers team for helping pull off this incredible feat of window tinting mastery - we couldn't have done it without you all. Also, thanks to all of our organizers, volunteers, participants, and supporters for helping make it a truly unique event that went off without a hitch.
In many industries, saving time means saving money. With film handling, efficiency is everything. For years many tinters have struggled with the dilemma of removing window gaskets or door panels in an effort to have cleaner installs. While well intentioned, disassembly puts internals at risk with unnecessary moisture. Those days are now behind us. Introducing the EZ-Tint tool from XPEL. It's specifically engineered to take the headache out of your daily tint routine.
BOTTOM LOADING NEVER LOOKED SO "E Z"
It's a simple concept that can change the way you install. With the EZ-Tint tool, bottom loading XPEL PRIME window film is a breeze.
Once the EZ-Tint tool is in place, simply use your forearms to apply downward pressure and let it do the work. The top plate will help separate the rubber gasket from the glass, so you don't have to worry about removing the gasket or door panel to being with.
With the gasket spread back, the EZ-Tint tool will allow you to bottom load XPEL PRIME window film without needing to reposition your hands. Combine the EZ-Tint tool with the plotted PRIME window tint patterns available in our Design Access Program, and you've got a recipe for success.
On top of being an awesome instrument for bottom loading window film, the EZ-Tint tool functions as a sill to hold your squeegees & other installation tools. It's an essential addition to any window tint installer's toolkit - wether you're a seasoned veteran, or just starting out.
EZ-Tint Is Available Now

Last week marked the kick-off of Porsche Club of America's Porsche Parade 2018 at the Lake of the Ozarks. This was our 5th year attending the Parade and no doubt, it was another awesome event.
As always, there was quite the selection of P-cars in attendance and on display. Inside the Tan-Tar-A resort, a rare Speedster variant sat just a few steps away from a Weissach GT2 RS.
Of course, we had something special to show off down in the Hospitality hall as well. None other than a paint-to-sample Zanzibar Red Porsche Boxster Spyder, protected with XPEL ULTIMATE by MidWest Tinting.
PCA Concours at Lake of the Ozarks
One of the most attended events at Porsche Parade 2018 had to be the Concours d'Elegance. Hosted on the greens behind the resort, the Parade Concours failed to disappoint. Nearly every model one could imagine was in attendance.
We spotted a 904 Carrera GTS, a Carrera RS, a Carrera GT, and then some. While the 918 & 959 from last year were absent, there was plenty more to see.
Up Close & Personal with the Mission E
Another big highlight of Porsche Parade 2018 happened at the Pirelli Welcoming Party. After last year's unveiling of the GT3, we were sure that PCA had something special cooked up this time around.
We didn't expect Porsche to bring a prototype, but that's exactly what they did. The pre-production Porsche Mission E concept car which made way for the new Taycan was a great surprise for all Parade goers.
The styling of the Mission E is truly out of this world. One part Stuttgart, one part Tron, and all parts awesome. After seeing it in the flesh, we can't wait to get our hands on a new Taycan.
Michelin Drive & Compare at Porsche Parade
The setup: a short drag race & stop box with identical PDK Caymans. The payoff: bragging rights. In a shootout format taking the best two out of three runs, the Michelin Drive & Compare proved to be an awesome test of reaction time and stopping power. Check out the video below from PCA for a more comprehensive breakdown.
On-Location with the Gunther Werks 400R
After our brief run on gRX & eyeballing the Gulf 400R at Barrett-Jackson Northeast, it was great to see Gunther Werks flagship machine at Porsche Parade 2018. Fully protected with satin STEALTH PPF by Protective Film Solutions, the Gulf livery 400R is a sight to behold.
Built off the 993 chassis, Gunther Werks vision for the 400R is a motorsport inspired masterpiece. Combining plenty of carbon fiber, a 400+ HP 4 liter developed by Rothsport, and much more, Gunther Werks 400R is a bespoke beauty with the enough bite to back up its bark.

XPEL ULTIMATE PLUS & PRIME XR PLUS INSTALLS FROM MIDWEST TINTING
Driving the rough backroads of Missouri in 100 degree heat, parade-goers needed all the help they could get. Fortunately, attendees were able to have vehicles protected with our latest & greatest products. With the help of Midwest Tinting, we offered on-site installs of self-healing ULTIMATE PLUS paint protection along with our heat rejecting PRIME XR PLUS window film.
Looking Towards Porsche Parade Boca Raton
As always, PCA revealed the location for the next Porsche Parade in 2019, and it's a bit more tropical than Missouri. The 64th annual Parade will take place in Boca Raton, Florida, and it's sure to be an extravaganza. If you've never attended Parade before & are a PCA member, 2019 might be your year.
The activities are always a good time, the people are friendly, and the cars, well, you know the cars are amazing. In closing, congrats to all Porsche Parade 2018 award winners, our door prize winners, and big thanks to the PCA's diehard members and volunteers for making it another awesome event. See you in Boca Raton!
Missed out on previous Porsche Parades? Check out our coverage from last year in Spokane, WA featuring a Porsche 911 Turbo protected with XPEL ULTIMATE by JK2 Automotive.
A few weeks before we brought a Bugatti Chiron to SEMA in Las Vegas, we found ourselves in West Palm Beach. Window Film Mag kicked off the annual International Window Film Conference & Tint-Off, and as a Diamond Plus sponsor, you know we had to bring the heat.
Beyond XDC, International Window Film Conference & Tint-Off is one of the few events dedicated entirely to the film industry. In its 17th year, the WFCT has grown in scope & scale, highlighting the latest product releases, informational seminars, and an intense install competition.
Velos Design Works McLaren 570S on Display at the XPEL Booth
Thanks to our friends from The Sign Savers in Miami, we were lucky to have another awesome vehicle on display. Wrapped & protected with ULTIMATE clear bra, the Velos Design Works McLaren 570S was a serious attention grabber.
Pushing an excess of 560HP with a top speed just north of 200mph, there's no denying that the papaya orange 570S was the most high performance ride on the floors of WFCT.
The other stars of the International Window Film Conference were, you guessed it: our new window films! Along with the soft launch of our VISION Architectural Line, many attendees had a chance to play with PRIME. Offering incredible UV protection & heat rejection, PRIME XR is a serious contender for anyone seeking a high performance window tint option. The Window Film Mag team caught up with our very own Eric Keller to touch briefly on both products in a Day 1 video recap - check out the full clip here.

The Paint Protection Competition and Tint-Off
Of course, it wouldn't be the International Window Film Conference without an install competition. There were a handful of XPEL supporters in the WFCT showdown this year, and a few even made it to the finals. Shout out to Jameel from ACE Custom Signs & Dustin from MidWest Tinting for putting XPEL products at the forefront of the competition, and congrats to Andrew & Kyle from Oz Braz for bringing home the gold!
Rightfully so, workmanship & finish quality will always supersede brand rivalries. As one of the judges of the PPF installation competition, lead trainer & installation specialist Alex Valencia made sure only the top qualifiers continued on.
ONE CONFERENCE TO RULE THEM ALL
Miss out on competing during the WFCT? There's another showdown on the horizon. The 2018 XPEL Dealer Conference is coming up, and we've got a competition in the works that will test the limits of any installer. Head over to xpel.com/dealerconference & get your entry locked in before it's too late.
