Monterey Car Week 2017: Legends, Werks, Motorsports Reunion & More

Monterey Car Week 2017: XPEL On Location We've been attending Car Week since 2013, and without a doubt, it's one of the most anticipated events of the year. The events, the locale, the vehicles - for one week out of the year, it's a proverbial automotive heaven on earth. As expected, Monterey Car Week 2017 was everything we dreamed of, and more. While Monterey Car Week is quite literally a week long chain of events, the real excitement always happens closer to the weekend. For Team XPEL, we planned to be in 3 different places at once on Friday. Between Legends of the Autobahn, Werks Reunion, and the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion, our Car Week weekend started off with a bang. Legends of the Autobahn For the German car enthusiast, there is no better Car Week event to attend than Legends of the Autobahn. Co-hosted by BMW Club, Mercedes Club, and the Audi Club, Legends is an epicenter of Deutsche delights. Michelin, the show's primary sponsor, had a trio of three stunning Mercedes lined up on the lawn. An AMG GT R, SLS AMG, and a modified SLR McLaren complete with full Mansory body kit. The turnout for the show was strong. The Nicklaus Club's greens filled out with show goers displaying a wide variety of the Autobahn's finest. We were in good company at the XPEL tent, with two different eras of BMW M cars on display. As luck would have it, Vorsteiner was kind enough to loan us a pristine E30 M3, complete with custom ULTIMATE paint protection. Accompanying the E30 was a brand new M4 GTS that had been completely covered in STEALTH by Appearance Solutions. If legendary vehicles are what you're after during Monterey Car Week, Legends of the Autobahn is a great place to start. Nearly every generation of the most sought after makes & models were in attendance. One show participant even brought out an entire array of Dakkar Yellow M cars. Across the lawns, we spied lemon yellow 190 EVO conversion. An all white 560 SEC AMG also attracted a lot of attention from attendees. While the origins of the car remains unclear to us, it was cool to see in original "catalog spec." There were plenty of modified vehicles attending Legends too. A handful of modern M cars and an i8 with a wild body kit & wheels among many other Audis & Mercs were on location. All in all, Legends of the Autobahn had a great smattering of old and new. No doubt, there's something for everyone's taste or performance preference. If you're attending Monterey Car Week in the future, don't miss it. Werks Reunion For those who missed out on Porsche Parade, there's always Werks Reunion. The show has been a roaring success for 4 years running, showcasing a little bit of everything that Porsche has to offer. If you're a fan of P-cars, there's no better place to be at Car Week than Werks. The show unfolded at Corral de Tierra Country Club with a bigger turnout than ever before. Modified 356s, backdate delights and modern supercars covered the grounds of Werks. Among them, we spotted a paint-to-sample Riviera Blue GT3 RS. Close by, the PCS Motorsports PPIHC Stage 4 991TTS sat unassumingly under a tree. While the air-cooled section seemed partial to the RS backdate craze, there was no shortage of restomods, weekend track warriors, or modern monster 911s. There was no shortage of wide hips at Werks either, and we're not talkin' RWB. This Jägermeister 934 was a definite favorite. It even managed to take home an award from Porsche Cars North America. Even the infamous Carrera GT found a home at the show. For being over 10 years old, the CGT is still as good looking as ever. No matter what type of Porsche person you are, you'll find something you like at Werks Reunion. For that reason alone, we can't wait to be back. Exotics on Cannery Row As Friday started to come to a close, downtown Monterey descended into madness. The good kind of madness. The loud kind. As crowds around Cannery Row began to grow to epic proportions, we made our way back from the day's events. Exotics on Cannery Row had reached critical mass. The street packed out with vehicles & spectators alike. If you're not familiar with EOCR, it's one of Monterey Car Week's most popular new events. The show is completely free to attend & it houses some of the wildest rides of Car week. Beyond the Concept Lawn or The Quail, you wont find anything else like it. As We made our way down Cannery Row towards the main display, a full STEALTH wrapped Lamborghini Reventon was drawing a crowd. Pushing through the masses, we also caught a look at the Cephus Centenario. One of the few Bugatti Chirons stateside was also in attendance. A few cars over, the one & only Riviera Blue GT had made it into the Michelin display. Not one, not two, but three Ferrari F50s were on location at the end of the row too. The sheer variety of vehicles present at Exotics on Cannery Row is part of what makes it such a blast to attend. If you've got limited time to spend at Car Week and you want to make the most of it, EOCR is a must. With the show coming to a close, we made our way out of the crowds to watch a few cars roll out from a distance. Our first day of Monterey Car Week was wrapping up, and we still had lots to experience. Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion Saturday rolled around & it was time for all hands on deck at Laguna Seca. Our biggest display of Monterey Car Week was out at the track for the Motorsports Reunion. Walking onto the grounds from the back sponsor lot, we were immediately greeted by an array of Singer 911s. if you're not familiar, these magnificent machines are far from being a simple, idealized resto-Porsche. Singer Vehicle Design has gone well above and beyond the average 911 updates. They have carbon fiber body components, fully integrated roll cages, bespoke interiors and much, much more. No detail on a Singer 911 gets overlooked. Personal tastes aside, these cars have some of the most stunning cockpits around. As the Singer mantra goes - everything is important. Coupled with the selection of Singer 911s sat a uniquely spec'd GT3 RS & 911 R with orange accents. Only a few feet away tucked back under the awnings, the Risi Competizione Ferrari 488 GTE. We were lucky to have a pretty awesome Italian stallion gracing the XPEL booth as well. 599 GTO spec'd in all black with yellow accents & a contrasting center stripe. Sporting full body ULTIMATE paint protection plus plenty of carbon fiber, the GTO was a perfect conversation piece for the show. For those who stopped by to learn more about XPEL Automotive Survival Products, we had a contest for a chance to win a roll of TRACWRAP. Directly behind our booth, Griot's Garage had a couple p-cars on display including one with ULTIMATE protection. Once the crowds lulled a bit, it was time to venture out into the pits. Even with three days to spend at the Motorsports Reunion, getting eyes on everything is tough. Row after row, tent after tent - the cars seem to be never ending. Automotive legends new & old were on location. BMW CSLs, a Renault Alpine, a race-prepped 300SL Gullwing, the Gozzy Kremer Porsche 935. The list goes on. Among the classics, a slew of modern engineering was also present. Notably, a new Ford GT, McLaren P1, and Jaguar's Formula E i-Type. After a tour of the pits, a hike to the top of the corkscrew was in order. Even at the summit of Laguna, it was still easy to spot the bright yellow XPEL tent amongst the others. Upon catching a few laps from the top, we ventured back down to see how close to the action we could get through the fence. The real highlight of the Rolex Reunion is seeing so many monsters of motorsport in motion, after all. Car spotting around Monterey is a great way to spend the day, but if rolling history is what you're after, put Laguna on your list for Car Week 2018. Infiltrating the Quail Lodge If you're not familiar with The Quail, it's one of Monterey Car Week's most prestigious displays. Held on the 18th hole of the Quail Lodge, the event features a staggering collection of old & new. Admission is upwards of $600 a head, and while the all-you-can-eat caviar bar is a big draw, the price tag is hard to swallow. As the saying goes - walk with confidence. After a polite exchange with event security and a brisk walk up to the greens, we were on the lawns of The Quail during setup. As cars were being unloaded and uncovered, we spread out to see as much as we could. The first thing that caught our eyes was the array of Koenigseggs we had seen previously at EOCR & Laguna. Audi was still setting up, but they had already pulled the covers off the R8 LMS GT3, as well as the original Sport Quattro S1 "Pikes Peak." Not too far from Audi, we caught our first look at the new Lamborghini Huracan Performante. Spec'd in a deep metallic green with contrasting bronze wheels, the Performante was drool worthy. Near the back of The Quail, we happened upon the Bugatti Chiron press car right as they began to unload it. If you're following us on Instagram, you may have heard it throw some revs for us in a short IG video. The Chiron is a serious sight to behold, especially when it's adorned with bright red interior. A stone's throw away, Bugatti had two other "classics' on display. Regardless of your automotive preferences, The Quail will rarely fail to disappoint. It might come with a hefty entry price, but you'd be hard pressed to find a better display without the crowds. As we headed back to the rental, an extremely rare Ford GT40 Roadster Prototype roared to life and puttered down a cart path. The sun was setting on The Quail, and we would have been hard pressed to find a better send off than that. Pebble Beach Concept Lawn & Manufacturer Displays As Sunday rolled around, we awoke ready to brave the crowds at one of the other top free events of Monterey Car Week. When people think of Pebble Beach, they usually think of the Concours d'Elegance. While the pageantry & poise of the Concours are uniquely "CarWeekian," the hype is on the Concept Lawn. With the Concept Lawn, a systematic approach seems to be the best route to go. Enter on one end, circle the green, and try to get as close to the chainlink as possible. This year's Lawn was nothing short of wild, with a smattering of concepts, a mix of hypercars, race cars, and pre-production prototypes. Despite not having hundreds of horses on deck or an insane price tag, the new VW ID Buzz drew a lot of attention. It's slated for production in 2022, and we can't wait to see them on the road. Down the road from the Concept Lawn, Mercedes-Benz had a solid selection of their very own to admire. Unless you're at Monterey Car Week, seeing a CLK GTR in person is almost unheard of. A mere 20 road-going coupes made it into production. Beyond the CLK GTR, the famous "Red Pig" was also in attendance, along with the one & only AMG Hammer wagon. Back up the road from Mercedes, the Bentley house was a Betayaga & Supersports showcase. The new Supersports "X" convertible was a highlight, with unique two-tone paint and plenty of carbon fiber. While the latest of the CGTSS lineup isn't much of a departure from years past, it's still a grand tourer's dream. Of course, the baby blue drop top resting front & center felt distinctly "Monterey" as well. Doubling back towards the concept lawn, we stumbled upon a back way up towards Ferrari's 70th birthday bash. If you're a fan of the Italian Stallion, Ferrari's 70th anniversary showing was the stuff of dreams. So many incredible cars, and not a single velvet rope in sight. Beyond Maranello, there's no better place for prancing horse appreciation than Pebble Beach. Among the ranks, a well-known '62 Ferrari 250 GTO had posted up on its own little pad of excellence. If it looks familiar, that's because it was a part of the ‘most expensive car crash’ ever in 2012. Since then it's undergone extensive restoration to return to its former glory. Another Ferrari that caught our attention was a rare black on black F50. Look closely at the photos, and you might spot something unique about the paint's surface. It's so thin, you can actually see the carbon fiber weave of the body panels underneath! With the Ferrari party behind us, we made our way back to the Uber pickup zone with camera cards full and heads buzzing from automotive euphoria. Before hitting the road, we popped over to see the Lucid Air EV. The prototype boasts around 1000hp, and hit a brain-melting 235mph in testing. Making our way up the hill from Pebble Beach, we heard a low rumble sneaking up behind us. It was none other than the blu cepheus Lamborghini Centenario from EOCR. Vorsteiner BMW E30 M3 As our Monterey Car Week extravaganza started to come to a close, it was time to return our special guests. First up, the Vorsteiner BMW E30 M3. Without a doubt, the E30 is a crowd pleaser. Even with only a few fleeting moments of seat time, it was easy to fall in love. It exudes balance & performance coupled with timeless good looks. With only a few minor modifications, the Vorsteiner E30 ticks all the right boxes. Big thanks to our friends at Vorsteiner for allowing us to display it at the booth during Legends of the Autobahn. The E30 put the "M" in Monterey Car Week, and for that, we're grateful. ULTIMATE 599 GTO on 17 Mile Drive For our final Monterey outing of Car Week 2017, we went in search of the ULTIMATE roller with the 599 GTO. After a quick loop through downtown, we made our way towards the famous 17 Mile Drive as the sun began set in front of us. The view was glorious. Bathed in the kind of warm glow only a California coast can produce, the 599 looked stellar. Much like the Vorsteiner E30, we were very lucky to have the GTO with us at the track again this year. One can only imagine the nightmare of maintaining a black 599, but thanks to ULTIMATE clear bra, it'll look just as good when Car Week 2018 rolls around. Bugatti Chiron "Hell Bee" in the Wild Last but most certainly not least, the car that needs no introduction: the Chiron "Hell Bee." As luck would have it, our excursion down 17 Mile Drive lead us right into the loading zone for Pebble Beach. Just as we were about to turn around & head home, we saw a flash of yellow off to the left. The one & only Hell Bee was getting tucked in for the night. We missed out on seeing it during the days prior due to the viewing party being private, but now, the car gods had smiled upon us. Almost as soon as we pulled over, car spotters and vloggers came out of the woodwork to get a look at the Chiron. Closing Thoughts Monterey Car Week 2017 was quite possibly the greatest car week thus far. 2018 will be here in no time, and we can't wait to do it all over again. goldRush Rally 9: XPEL on the road with Roush Performance

There are very few automotive lifestyle events that stack up to the likes of goldRush Rally. Many have heard about the gR phenomenon, but few have experienced one to the fullest. It's the type of event non-participants speak of in hushed tones. Is it dangerous? Are you racing? What do you win? With the help of our friends at ROUSH Performance & Protective Film Solutions, we set forth on an epic 8-day adventure to find out what goldRush Rally 9 was really all about. Roll the footage! goldRush Rally 9: XPEL on the Road with Roush Performance The video does a decent job of summing things up, but there's still so much to goldRush. It only happens once a year, but what happens during that week on the road seem to last a lifetime. From the day-to-day of driving to wild moments that are born from spontaneity - for many, being #goldBlooded runs deep. Let's get into it. Start Grid at the Peterson Automotive Museum After a quick stop in Vegas to acquire our support vehicle, we made a beeline for Cali. We were piloting the last vehicle anyone expected to see on goldRush Rally - a Ford F-150. Not just any regular old Ford though. A ROUSH tuned Platinum Edition to be precise. Our fellow ralliers would be stuck in rigid carbon bucket seats, but we were cruising in comfort. The ROUSH F-150 is about as close to an off-road Rolls as you can get with a Blue Oval. Between the heated + cooled massaging seats, upgraded Fox shocks, and a 600hp supercharged V8, it's a goldRush recipe for good times. Of course, all the performance & practicality in the world can't really hold a candle to the rest of the display at the start grid. If you're a fan of exotics, there's plenty to go around. GT3 RS's, McLarens, multiple Bugatti Veyrons & even Salomondrin's Rubystone Red Porsche CGT attended. Among those vehicles was none other than the ROUSH Performance Stage 3 S550 we'd be accompanying. Rocking a Le Mans Ford GT tribute livery, it was easily one of our favorite wraps on goldRush. The cars of goldRush are usually best known for their wild wraps, but the Mustang's real-world inspired styling felt right at home. No doubt, one of our other favorite wraps on the rally was none other than BC's PurBlanc Panda. Playing off the Bugatti's Beetle-like shape, PFS treated the Veyron to a Herbie the Love Bug livery. With an XPEL STEALTH base layer under the graphics, the Veyron packed enough protection & personality to steel the show. The Vorsteiner McLaren 570-VX could also be seen sitting outside the Peterson Museum. Looking like a cross between some sort of baby P1 GTR & a jet fighter, Vorsteiner's take on the 570 was sure to be a head turner on goldRush. A Lamborghini Countach lurked beyond the temporary dividers surrounding the start grid. While it wasn't part of the rally, it's hard for anyone to ignore an 80s supercar icon. After a few rounds of admiring everything in the lot & touring the Peterson, it was finally time to pack it in. The rally launch day loomed, and we knew we had a full day of driving ahead. Beverly Hills to San Francisco: Hearst Castle Takeover Bright and early Saturday, we met up for the first driver's meeting back outside the Peterson. The first bit of the journey would land us in San Francisco for the night, with a quick scenic stop at Hearst Castle. Once we were on the road, it was open season for shooting rollers. We did our best to keep with the pack as we battled LA traffic & made our way to the lunch locale. Among the cars flying by, the ROUSH Performance S550 looked awesome rocking the monstrous Pirelli World Challenge wing. Upon arrival at Hearst Castle, the parking lot filled up as word spread to the tourists inside. In no time, sight seers were wandering the rows of exotics, buzzing with questions about the rally & where we were heading. While pranks have become somewhat synonymous with goldRush, we witnessed our first act of cross-team camaraderie at the Castle. The couple driving a Joker & Harley Quinn wrapped Lamborghini left a message for the Batventador. If you're familiar with the classic Dark Knight twist on a popular Christmas carol, it's bound to ring a bell. Before hitting the road towards San Francisco, we took some time to admire the gR pack & get a feel for everything in the fleet. Soon enough, it was time to roll to our first rest stop of the rally. We fired up the truck, turned on our seat coolers, and slipped into the line up as cars filed out. A Golden Gate Getaway & In-N-Out Invasion After a decent night's sleep at the Ritz & a routine morning driver's meeting, the goldRush group assembled. The second day of driving would span around 500 or so miles across California and deep into Oregon. Everyone formed up at Marina Green. Cars filed in & filled the park out as spotters started to come out of the woodwork. As the morning fog burned off, we opted to bust out the drone to snap a few ariels and get a feel for our surroundings. Between the high value vehicles on display, a handful of yachts in the harbor, and Alcatraz looming in the distance, the views were nothing short of spectacular. In true goldRush Rally form, a few of California's finest had turned up to lead the pack. Once the police photo ops were out of the way, it was time for goldRush to make its move. With the fuzz leading the charge, the streets of SanFran erupted into a symphony of horsepower. Making our way through the barrage of Sunday drivers, we eventually found our way onto the bridge. A pink & purple plume drifted over the pack as a team in the front unleashed a few smoke bombs for cinematic effect. A police escort to the Golden Gate Bridge isn't an everyday occurrence. Ask anyone on gR9ine, it was without a doubt a highlight of the rally. After a few hours of blasting through the California countryside, we rolled into the lunch meet ready for a bite. As anyone knows, no California road trip is complete without a stop at In-n-Out. As goldRushers arrived, the parking lot began to overflow with hungry patrons & car fans alike. Despite the overwhelming crowd and sudden influx of hungry drivers, In-N-Out handled our surprise invasion with relative ease. Parking spaces were in short order, but the food came out fast. Spoilers became table tops, and the rally gang refueled in true animal-style fashion. Entering Oregon Territory Aside from intermittent cell service & a little inclement weather, the drive into Oregon was smooth sailing. The pack would break up every once in awhile between refueling stops, reforming en route. Every small town the rally passed through seemed to welcome us with open arms & cellphone cameras rolling. After a few hours of driving, almost the entire pack pulled off next to a dilapidated barn for an impromptu car show & photo shoot. The dirt side roads posed little threat to the likes of goldRush Rally. At one point, Australian racing driver Liam Talbot even decided to hitch a ride on the back of a Ferrari. One thing's for sure, our ROUSH F-150 looked right at home out in the farmlands of Oregon. If we had a few more hours to spare, we definitely would have liked to do a bit more off-roading. But, with daylight fading fast, we still had quite a bit of ground to cover before hitting Sun River. We sounded the airhorns & piled back in the ROUSH destined to finish the final stretch of Day 2. Sun River to Seattle: Porsche Cupcakes & Oregon Raceway Park The third day of goldRush Rally 9 began & all seemed quiet. Most of the teams were packing up and prepping to roll out, except one. A particular Porsche was starting to draw a crowd. The driver of the 911 in question was the victim of sweet revenge. As the story goes, he supposedly added some unwanted stickers to another participant's car the night before. As a result, the other team decided to fire back by turning his car into a rolling dessert. The Porsche got covered with whip cream, sprinkles, frosting, a few waffle cones & topped off with saran wrap. Finally, the tires were flattened. From here on, this Porsche would have its rush for gold cut short. At this point it was time to take it to the track. Minor beef aside. everyone made their way to Oregon Raceway Park. The road course was prepped & a catered lunch awaited. The weather was clear, crisp, and perfect for hot lapping. It was a beautiful day for track time with the rally group. While the ROUSH Mustang cooled down after a few sessions on the tarmac, we took a minute to get some footage of it at rest for the highlight reel. Once we wrapped up the shoot, it was time to hit the dusty trail towards the rainy state of Washington. The Second Leg: Turn10 Tours & Lamborghinis Galore Seattle marked the beginning of the second leg of goldRush Rally. With a day of layover before departure to Spokane, we had plenty of time to see the sights and make a few stops. There were a handful of cars teaming up for the 2nd half of gR9ine too. One very rare Porsche 959 joined forces, along with a vintage Camaro, and a Lamborghini Gallardo piloted by YouTube persona The Stradman. Tuesday rolled around & our first point of interest in the Pacific North West was none other than Turn 10 Studios. Responsible for one of the most successful racing franchises in video game history, Turn 10 has been cranking out hits since the early days of XBOX. Forza Motorsport has since spanned 6 titles and even branched off into a separate arcade inspired series called Horizon. Once we had a quick bite and caught a few interviews with game devs, the tours were underway. Due to some unforseen exposure of upcoming projects, our tour got cut a bit short. Consequently, so did our shot at hitting the racing simulator. Be that as it may, it was still interesting to get an inside look at the home of Forza and a feel for how the game gets made. If you watched our highlight reel, you may have spotted a quick glimpse of the pre-production McLaren P1 that calls the lobby of Turn 10 home. As the day's event started to wind down, we found ourselves staring down the nose of a brand new Lamborghini. A beautiful Balloon White Aventador S sat quietly near the exit, begging to join in on the fun of goldRush Rally 9. With the Aventador S in the forefront of our minds, we made a conscious decision to stop by Lamborghini Bellevue & see what else was in-stock. As luck would have it, they welcomed us with open doors and were happy to show off a selection of their finest bulls. Quite a few of their vehicles had ULTIMATE or STEALTH paint protection equipped thanks to our friends at Eastside Auto Salon. All things considered, it was a great opportunity to meet with a dealership taking the extra steps to protect their vehicles from the start. Due East: Spokane Via Seattle Wednesday rolled around & everyone was itching to get back out on the open road. No doubt, goldRush Rally 9 felt like it was just getting started as we made our way through the wet towards Spokane County Raceway. At the top of Snoqualmie pass, we happened upon the last remaining remnants of winter. It seemed only necessary that we do a little cold weather testing with the ROUSH F-150. At this point, we had no choice but to pull off the road & tried not to get the truck stuck. Before long, we had left the slushy stuff far behind. The rolling hills of eastern Washington stretched out before us as we made our way towards the Columbia river. The group took a moment to link up for a photo op at a turnoff outside of Vantage, so we took advantage & pulled the drone out. The bird's eye perspective is quickly becoming a popular way to profile vehicles of every variety. Having a broad selection of cars to shoot on goldRush Rally was a perfect opportunity to get familiar with the technique. Using the Columbia as a backdrop was a nice change of scenery too. The lineup of cars parked along the river's edge & Team Salamone's chromed out Aventador looked stellar in the afternoon sun. Once everyone had stretched their legs for a bit, it was time to get back on the road. Exotic Shakedown at SCR A couple more hours of driving flew by, and we found ourselves lining up at Spokane County Raceway for some exotic drag racing. When we say "exotic drag racing" we mean it. Sure, some of the vehicles that participated were, by definition, exotics. But drag racing on goldRush doesn't stop at supercars. A Mercedes 4x4 Squared lined up to run, and yes, even the DASH radio van threw down on the quarter mile! As luck would have it, the drag portion of the day came to a close & the nice people at SCR decided to open up the road course. One of the straighter sections of the track was visible from the fence, so we were able to get a few action shots as cars flew by. Spokane to Jackson Hole: Taking the Twisties & Climbing to the Top After a night of massive crowds, dueling pianos and karaoke, it was time to hit the roads once again. The drive from Spokane to Jackson Hole was a long one, but when you're in the company of goldRush Rally, time flies. We made our way into Wyoming and began to close the gap on the Grand Tetons. a few miles out from our resting place for the evening, we spotted a classic Mini pulling onto the road. Exchanging thumbs up, the Mini joined pursuit as quick as it could, trailing close to the ROUSH F-150 as we hurtled down the pass. Upon arrival at the Teton Mountain Lodge, the hotel's guest services welcomed us in & helped us get more acquainted to our surroundings. After discussing the possibilities of local off-road access with some on-site personnel, we were ready to do a little more exploring. This time though, we didn't take the truck. A quick chat with Liam Talbot led us to the only logical conclusion: drive the 4x4 Squared up as high as humanly possible. So we did. With no real sense of direction other than "up," we took the Mercedes as far as the beaten path would let us. Summiting a mountain in a luxury SUV isn't exactly routine operating procedure. Be that as it may, the 4x4 Squared is hardly a garden variety mall crawler, so getting to the top posed little of a challenge. If you're wondering how we got down, check out the replay from Liam's Facebook Live stream here.   Jetting from Jackson Hole The following day, we cleared out of Jackson Hole & high tailed it towards Park City, Utah. Since there was quite a bit of ground to cover, we made sure not to do it on an empty stomach. Rally organizers had a unique lunch stop planned at a glamping resort called Conestoga Ranch on the shores of Bear Lake. For those unfamiliar with the concept of glamping: it's a trendy form of glamorous camping. The property at Conestoga housed a few covered wagons, bespoke tents, and a number of large fire pits. Modern supercars lined up along with more colonial modes of transportation isn't something we see everyday, so the stop at Conestoga was an interesting one. Parking in Park City The arrival of goldRush Rally 9 in Park City was warm welcomed. As we began our accent to Montage Deer Valley hotel, groups of spectators began to line the road. Near the hotel entrance a small crowd had formed and cheered on teams as they made there way into the garage. Like prior stops, a few parking spaces remained reserved for the rally's heavy hitters near the hotel lobby. Despite our F-150's luxurious interior, we didn't make the cut for premium parking. As the night went on, our fellow ralliers settled in. We had one final leg ahead, and we'd need all the energy we could muster if we were going to make it to Vegas the following day. Before we knew it, the time had come to make the final jaunt to Nevada. Cars circled up around the Montage entry way and prepared for blast off. Las Vegas Bound Maybe it was the fact that Saturday marked the last day in our goldRush Rally adventure. Or, perhaps it was the accumulative miles we had traveled over the past 9 days on the road. Either way, the stretch between Park City & Vegas seemed to fly by quicker than any other. After staying with the pack for a large portion of the drive & snapping a few rollers, we opted to drop back. Looking for a good opportunity to enjoy the ROUSH F-150 a bit more before parting ways, we pulled off at the first sign of flat dirt. If you watched our highlight reel above, After a quick lunch stop with a bunch of participants, it was time to close the gap on Nevada. The final drive to Chicago Motor Cars in Las Vegas marked the end of our journey on goldRush Rally 9. Once we got to Chicago Motor Cars, the goldRush Rally Award Ceremony was ready to pop off. A few teams had opted to skip out on Park City, so they were ready & waiting when others arrived. Word had definitely got out on social media. The lot at CMC Vegas was chock full of rally fans & car spotters alike. Caked in dirt & running low on fuel, the ROUSH F-150 had made the gR9ine journey in one piece. Despite our best efforts to melt a tire or two & disable the seat massagers via excessive overuse, not a problem was had. We received quite a few compliments on the truck over the course of goldRush, and almost weren't ready to say goodbye. After chatting it up with a few spectators, we made our way inside for the Awards. Upon entering Chicago Motor Cars, the sight of a La Ferrari let us know we had truly arrived. A handful of other vehicles were keeping the La F company. A Rolls, an AMG Coupe, and a Rezvani Beast were all on display. Once the ceremony began, we figured we'd be a shoe in for "dirtiest car" award, but no dice. Apparently trucks don't qualify. Despite a minor letdown, we still lived it up. With complimentary champagne flowing & music blasting, our time on goldRush was coming to an end. Backup on The Boulevard Evening set in on sin city, and the grand finale lay ahead. To cap goldRush Rally 9 off in style, a final police escort was in order. We were about to shut down the main drag. With an excessive amount of revving & airhorns blasting, we lumbered onto the Vegas strip. Traffic on LV Boulevard is normal - goldRush however, is not. The strip nearly screeched to a halt. At one point, resident carninja Ted7 even hopped out of the Fiat to snap a few during the backup! In any case, we made it to the Aria and were waved into the garage. The journey was over. Our goldRush adventure had reached its final stop. Traveling at the speed of gold No doubt, goldRush Rally 9 was an experience unlike any other. The sheer amount of miles driven, fuel burned, and strips of beef jerky eaten felt record worthy in itself. We saw some incredible sights, met a lot of interesting characters, and made a few new fans. TX2K17: A World Record Weekend at Royal Purple Raceway

If you've never had the pleasure of attending TX2K, you may not know what you're missing out on. Some have referred to it as "The Super Bowl of Street Car Racing," and we'd have to agree. It's an event that's gone from being Supra-centric, to a full on clash of automotive titans. #TeamXPEL en route to TX2K17 After a brief stop at XPEL Houston, we pressed onward to Royal Purple Raceway for the main event. David set the pace in his XPEL ULTIMATE wrapped Dodge Challenger SRT 392. Consequentially, it was the perfect opportunity for snapping rolling shots! We weren't alone on the drive in either. A few miles out from the track, we came upon a lone Chicane Grey McLaren 570s that was also making its way to TX2K17. The driver surprised us with a lightning fast flyby before putting a few car lengths on our convoy. On Location at Royal Purple Raceway With our tent all set up close to the staging lanes, we were in a prime position for event's festivities. While the yellow XPEL Tundra is eye catching on its own, we opted to draw a crowd in proper TX2K fashion: horsepower. Over the course of our stay at RPR, we had a combined excess of around 3,000+ HP on deck between two Lamborghinis. First up was a beautiful Underground Racing Superleggera. The following day, a bright orange Heffner Performance Gallardo graced the booth. Amidst Facebook Live streams, we took some time to educate attendees on the advantages of XPEL ULTIMATE & STEALTH self-healing clear bra as well as our PRIME window films. We saw a lot of familiar faces and we also made a few new friends. One attendee even told us he's hoping to expanding the XPEL Dealer Network all the way to Jamaica! As luck would have it, our neighbors from Eat Sleep Race brought out a crazy RHD Rocket Bunny S15 with a Nissan RB26 motor swap. It was quite a sight to behold and definitely attracted a lot of attention from event goers. Car Spotting Around the Grounds There was a wide variety of vehicles to see at TX2K17, from tuners to exotics & beyond. Most of all, the Nissan GT-R presence at TX2K has grown stronger with each passing year, and 2017 was no exception. For example, it's not every day that we get to see a line up of GT-R's spanning four generations! Between the rows of tents & team trailers, we spotted a Radical RXC, the same elusive grey McLaren, and even a new Ford Raptor. One of the great things about an event like TX2K is that a majority of the cars there came to race. Hard parking isn't on the event schedule. Venturing over towards the dyno zone, we spied a lone Mazda RX-7 prepping for a pull. As spectators looked on, the FD grumbled to life in an eruption of boost. One of the nice things about dyno days at TX2K is the fact that it's open to all makes & models. Anyone can test their power output whether they're running AWD or 2WD. It's hard to resist snapping a pic of anything that's XPEL yellow. A well-kept Ford GT sat unassumingly near the tail end of the staging lanes a few feet away from the action. While it seemed to be stock in nature, you can never be too sure of what's lurking below the surface at an event like TX2K. Beyond our booth, there were quite a few cars on-site protected with XPEL ULTIMATE clear bra as well. A UR8 Lamborghini Huracan, Huracan Spyder, and a Murcielago sat near the track entrance looking as good as the day they got wrapped. Even a brand new 2017 Acura NSX found its way to TX2K, shining bright in metallic pearl white. No doubt, it was a perfect candidate for paint protection! Trackside at TX2K17 Exploring the pits at the track is an experience in itself, but the real reason to attend is the racing. As Gold Tier sponsors of TX2K17, we had access to get right up in the thick of it, and it didn't disappoint. With our team polos caked in tire fragments, permeated by the smell of exhaust, we ended every day wide eyed & grinning. As a result of our proximity, we may have suffered some minor hearing loss, but it was worth it. Next time we'll make sure to bring some ear protection. From the tower walkways, we got a bird's eye view of the action. If you're not familiar with roll racing, the concept is simple: cars have to maintain a designated speed as they approach the start point.  Once they reach the flag, it's wide open throttle till the end of the pass and as a result, whoever gets there first, wins. In a sense, roll racing brings the rush of freeway pulls to a safer, more controlled environment. With multiple brackets & classes competing, there was plenty of high-horsepower entertainment to take in. As the days events progressed, the anticipation for automotive insanity continued to elevate. WITNESSING HISTORY IN THE MAKING We saw quite a few passes during our four day stay at Royal Purple Raceway. Breaking records at TX2K is by no means a rare occurrence and it's always mind blowing to see first hand. With trap speeds reaching into the 200s, a few measly seconds can feel like a century waiting for the results to come in. One of the first record breakers was none other than a twin turbo UR4 Huracan piloted by KC Howeth of Underground Racing. In the first round of roll racing, KC set a new track top speed of 217 MPH. Working his way through eliminations, Howeth wound up in the finals placing 1st in the Unlimited Class. Excitement brewed over with exhibition drag racing from AMS Performance and ETS. While multiple teams were gunning for the elusive 6 second quarter mile pass, only one emerged victorious. Despite suffering an engine fire the day prior, the AMS Alpha G GT-R brought the quickness. For a moment, time seemed to slow to a near halt. The announcer boomed over the loudspeaker, and the clocks confirmed it: Gidi Chamdi set a new world record. Cheers erupted from the crowd. That’s a wrap 2016

Pardon the pun, but 2016 has been an amazing year for XPEL Protective Films and it wouldn't have been possible without the support from our loyal fans, customers, and installers. Let's take some time to look back at the events of 2016. Barrett-Jackson Northeast This was the first year of the Northeast Edition of Barrett-Jackson and it was an absolute blast. It was hosted at the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut. We teamed up with our local installers. Automobilia Auto Salon, who are located in West Haven, Connecticut made the trip up to the Mohegan Sun to help us out at the show. We cannot wait to go back next year Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale This year was the best year yet for us at Barrett-Jackson in Scottsdale, Arizona. We had a beautiful McLaren 12C in the booth from one of our XPEL Installers and friends at Smart Shield. The entire 12C is wrapped with XPEL ULTIMATE self-healing paint protection film. We are already looking forward to 2017, which is coming up quickly. What car would you like to see in the booth this year? Boxstoberfest We always look forward to Boxstoberfest in Fredericksburg every year. We love hanging out with the Porsche crowd at an airfield with beautiful german cars. We look forward to seeing everyone in 2017! Corvette Fun Fest Once a year, Corvette owners descend upon Mid America Motorworks in Effingham, Illinois for Corvette Fun Fest. Our local installer, Clear Auto Bra, comes out to do on-site installs for all the show attendees. Every year seems to get bigger, this year was no different. Corvettes at Carlisle Another great Corvette show that we attend annually, Corvettes at Carlisle. Corvette owners worldwide come to Carlisle, Pennsylvania to hang out with friends and family and talk all things corvette. We had an absolute blast this year, we had multiple XPEL installers come help out. We'd like to thank Rose Detailing, Detail Authority, AutoPro1, ACAP Films, and All-American Paint Protection. Gold Rush Rally This year participants made their way through the United States, traveling from Boston to Los Angeles with stops in Washington D.C., Charlotte, Nashville, Colorado Springs, Salt Lake City, and Las Vegas. Goodwood Festival of Speed One of the greatest car gatherings in the world, the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The event is held annually in the southern part of the United Kingdom in Chichester. This year we had a McLaren P1 that was wrapped with XPEL ULTIMATE by our XPEL Hertfordshire location in Letchworth Garden City. Hennessey Tuner School With Hennessey Performance being a 2-hour drive from our Corporate Headquarters in San Antonio, we visited their Tuner School to show the students the benefits of having XPEL ULTIMATE and demonstrated the installation process. Each of these students spend approximately 14 weeks learning about all things automotive. Thank you, John Hennessey and Hennessey Performance. Monterey Car Week             Team XPEL always has a blast in Monterey California for Monterey Car Week. We attended many events this year, some include Legends of the Autobahn, Serata Italiana, Werks Reunion and many others. Seeing Ferrari's, Lamborghinis, Pagani's and other exotics cruising downtown Monterey is an absolute sight to see. We look forward to seeing everyone next year. Lonestar Mopar Fest Lonestar Mopar Fest is a fun local show that we have done for the past few years, this year our Texas Sales Representative was able to display his fully XPEL wrapped Dodge Challenger SRT Scatpack in the XPEL Booth. The event takes place at Hennessey Performance drag strip and the Hemi Hide, we can't wait for 2017. The SEMA Show The SEMA Show is the show to attend. Every year for XPEL has been bigger and better. This year we took 3 fully wrapped cars. Starfest is a gathering of friends and family of Mercedes-Benz drivers from all over North America. We had a great time hanging out with the Mercedes crew.  TX2K16  An event we always can't wait to attend, TX2K. Drag racing, Roll Racing, Dyno Days, Night Meet and much more. Exclusivity in Italian Carbon Fiber Made in Sant'agata Bolognese Lamborghini is known for making cars wallpaper worthy. They did just that with the Aventador and Aventador Roadster. This model produces 700 horsepower delivered to all four wheels, which can move this 4300 pound supercar to 60 miles per hour in less than 3 seconds. Pre-Install Prep Before installation the installer will clean and prep the car accordingly. Best methods are to wash and clay bar the painted surfaces that will receive paint protection film. By using a clay bar you remove any contaminants and even waxes/coatings that may have been applied. But here are a couple facts you may not know about the latest V12 Lambo. - The Aventador's rear wing has three positions that change based on driving conditions (speed really). It stays flat below 50 mph, but lifts slightly once you hit 51 mph. Once you exceed 81 mph is when it extends the full 11 degrees, which may look great but is a flag to the local PD that you may be exceeding the speed limit. - It's a wide car. Think about fitting this into car transporters. - The V12 in the Aventador is the most powerful V12 Lamborghini has ever made, it's also the most fuel-efficient. So yes it is possible to have 700 horsepower and still get 11/17 mpg city/highway. - Yes it will do 217 miles per hour. All day long. By using a pre-cut pattern you’ll have less to worry about, since the installer will not be trimming the film on your vehicle. Using a pre-cut pattern the film will naturally fit without excessive stretching or contortion, which means the finished product not only lines up perfectly but is free of defects which could be visible once the install is finished. Contrary to what some may believe it’s possible to wrap edges using a computer cut pattern which gives you a much better protection and installation. With XPEL Technologies Corp., all patterns are available with precision cut wrapped edges where possible. Where a wrapped edge is not possible, for example around the parking sensors on a bumper, reverse cameras and more, the film is always machine cut with precision. You can pick and choose your coverage options. Door handle inserts, also known as door cups. Lamborghini’s Texas Running of the Bulls 2014

Lamborghini - Since 1963 Texas Running of the Bulls is a four day event hosted by the Lamborghini Club of Texas. Proceeds from the event benefit The 100 Club, an organization that financially rescues the dependents of firefighters and law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty by paying their debts and providing an education for their children. Every year the club tries to make it out to a race track for some apex hitting fun. This year was no exception, with a day at Circuit of the Americas on the schedule. Bulls on Parade People from all over come to the event, with some owners shipping their cars to the event. Including the famed Batventador, that was shipped all the way from sunny Southern California. The majority of the group was from the Texas area. The event started in Houston for a night of drinks and hellos. The next afternoon we all formed a convoy and drove to Austin, Texas in one brightly colored Italian train. Saturday was track day at COTA followed by the banquet. Sunday was Escotico Italiano, a celebration of exotic Italian automobiles at one of the most beautiful places in the Texas hill country. The Oasis on Lake Travis. There are many different types of car enthusiasts, and after spending time with the Lamborghini crowd it's easy to see that they are a very dedicated bunch. A couple of the owners brought more than one of their Lamborghini's to the event.  To a car guy, there's almost nothing sweeter than seeing a car shoot down the front straight of Circuit of the Americas, it's just a plus when that particular car is an Aventador with a really nice exhaust. Watch the video below to see the Batventador scream down the front straight of COTA. Another owner bought a black Gallardo that previously had a competitors film installed. He wasn't happy with the texture and look of the older film, so when we told him we were doing installs on-site he jumped at the chance! We removed the old film from his hood and replaced it with XPEL ULTIMATE.
