Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach 2018 with the Velos Mclaren 570S

2018 marked the 16th year for the Barrett-Jackson Auto Auction at the South Florida Fairgrounds Expo Center. This year, the show saw the inclusion of the John Staluppi collection, bringing 145 unique vehicles to the blocks for sale. With nearly 700 cars totaling out just shy of $40 million, the Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach auctions were as exciting as ever. Velos DesignWerks McLaren 570s with ULTIMATE PLUS Paint Protection As some of our readers might recall, we bolstered our presence at the 2017 WFCT with the help of a bright orange McLaren. In particular, the Velos DesignWerks 570S. For Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach, it was back with a few new updates & modifications. Along with ULTIMATE PLUS paint protection film from The Sign Savers, the Velos 570S now has a new set of black & gold VLS01 wheels & a rear carbon wing. The McLaren drew a ton of attention to the XPEL booth. Having a fast car to show off is one thing, but when it's a rolling example of how the products performs in the wild, it's even better. Protecting a Little Piece of History No doubt, Barrett-Jackson is always full of surprises. When an opportunity for protecting something special arises, you've got to jump on it. Of all the celebrity sightings this year, Burt Reynolds stood out the most. Since his '80 Trans Am Pace Car crossed the blocks this year, the Bandit was on-location for a little meet & greet. After an autograph session, Burt decided to sign the Smokey themed printed wrap on the side of one of the merch trailers. With the help of some XPEL ULTIMATE film samples, Peter from Zen Auto Concepts made short work of preserving the signatures for years to come. Crowd Pleasers & Pocket Drainers As we mentioned above, Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach grew quite a bit in 2018. Staluppi's "Cars of Dreams" collection encompassed an entirely new tent all on its own. The collection included a little bit of everything, from classics to muscle and even a few oddities. While most of the vehicles were convertibles, there was one coupe that stood out. None other than a bone-stock twin turbo Toyota Supra, which sold for $50K and some change. There were quite a few other JDM legends hanging around the auction grounds of Barret-Jackson Palm Beach as well. We spied a handful of R33 Nissan Skylines, a right hand drive Mazda RX-7, and even a couple of NSXs. The top seller of the show was a uniquely spec'd Lexus LFA Nürburgring Edition. Only 50 of the 500 LFAs produced came as Nürburgring Editions, so we were a bit surprised to see one crossing the blocks in Palm Beach of all places. At any rate, the LFA found a new home to the tune of a $770,000 hammer down. Inside the main Exhibitor Pavilion, a different high value supercar icon sat a few steps away from the XPEL booth. A Heritage Edition Ford GT, presumably, one of the same from SEMA 2017, looked as striking as ever in race inspired regalia. Other notable additions to the Blue Oval's base included the infamous Mustang Bullitt, as well as the first new Ford Ranger we've seen in the wild. Next Stop: Mohegan Sun All in all, this year's Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach was another awesome event for buyers, sellers, and show-goers alike. Between record setting attendance, high value automobiles and the enthusiasm of ownership, Barrett Jackson is just the type of place we like to be. In a handful of months, you'll be able to catch us back in the action at the Mohegan Sun for Barrett-Jackson Northeast. If you're going to the show, don't hesitate to stop by the booth & say hi!

Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale 2018 with SmartShield

For our first adventure on the road in the new year, we made it out to Arizona for Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale. As usual, the world's greatest collector car auction was a weeklong dream of classics, incredible charity sales, and plenty of new releases to see. With over 1,700 vehicles going up for sale at Barrett-Jackson alone, you'd be hard pressed to not find something you like during Arizona Car Week. XPEL On Location Accompanied by the good people from Arizona's very own Smart Shield, we posted up with a black & yellow Chevy Corvette Z06. While the Corvette attracted a lot of attention from onlookers, ULTIMATE's self-healing powers took center stage. Thanks to the help of our on-site installation experts, the paint protection film demos never stopped. Being in good company is just one of the many perks of having a booth at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale. Across the walkway, Tesla Motors drew a crowd with their popular Model S & X. Hopefully the Model 3 & Roadster will make an appearance next time around. A few steps away, we spotted a selection of ULTIMATE protected beauties from McLaren Scottsdale. It's always nice to stumble across other displays showing off XPEL products. It's even better when it's a fully wrapped metallic blue 570. Breaking Records on the Blocks Of all the auto auctions during Arizona Car Week, Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale draws some of the biggest numbers. Various charity vehicles raised over $6 million in sales this year, with a new Ford GT that went for $2.5 million alone. Other notable charity cars included the first 2019 Bullitt Mustang for $300k, and the new Corvette ZR1 that hammered down just shy of $1 million. No doubt, it wouldn't be Barrett-Jackson without plenty of oddities for sale. From a lifted hot rod Hearse to a 6x6 armored personnel carrier, there was no shortage of unique pieces to be had. One favorite was none other than a fully operational hot tub. The Cadillac "Car Pool" Deville sold for around $30k. Can you think of a more relaxing way to commute after a long day at the office? An Awesome Auction Assemblage While Barrett is the go-to place for restomods and American classics, we spotted quite a few imports on deck too. A handful of Nissan GT-R R32s were present, along with an original first gen Civic. It might not have been up for auction, but another notable attendee at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale was just down the hall. Sporting VIN #0001 and a mere ~600 miles on the clock, a very rare McLaren P1 GTR stopped show-goers in their tracks. We would have expected to see the some velvet ropes around the first production ZR1, but it sat relatively unattended. Among other heavy hitters inside the halls of the Sponsor Pavilion, the new super Vette seemed right at home. A buyer would be hard pressed to find more performance per dollar than a Corvette. Needless to say, we're intrigued to see what kind of numbers the unreleased mid-engine variant puts down. Here's hoping they bring one out to Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale 2019. So Long, Scottsdale Once again, attending Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale was an awesome experience. Watching the sales unfold is a sight to behold, but interacting with auction-goers & educating the masses on the importance of protecting their collectables is just as valuable. Preservation of paint is a vital part of ownership, and we're proud to be a part of the equation each year. Special thanks the team from Smart Shield Protection Film, as well as Albert Borboa from Porsche Chandler & David Dilorenzo from Deluxe Detail for helping out at the booth. We couldn't have done it without you guys. Thanks for reading!

Corvettes at Carlisle 2017 with Rose Detailing, ACAP Films, Blackout Tinting, and Detail Authority

As summer came to a close, we made our way out to Carlisle, Pennsylvania for the annual Corvettes at Carlisle show. If you're not familiar with [email protected], it's touted as one of the largest Corvette-centric events in the world. With upwards of 5,000 Vettes in attendance there's no shortage of bowties in Carlisle come August. Corvettes at Carlisle 2017 didn't disappoint. VETTES FOR MILES For the initiated, Corvettes at Carlisle can be a bit overwhelming. The fairgrounds seem to go on for miles. Walking the endless rows of Vettes, it's easy to get turned around and lose track of time with so much to see. Lucky for us, the bright XPEL tent stood out like a Racing Yellow beacon of protection. Of course, it helped that we were also accompanied by Lance Miller's very own Carlisle Blue ZR1. Protected with ULTIMATE clear bra, this well-known sky blue beauty still looks as good as it did the day it drove off the lot. By the numbers, there's somewhere around 11 Carlisle Blue ZR1s in existence, so we were very lucky to have the vehicle on display again for 2017. ON-SITE INSTALLS WITH ULTIMATE & PRIME Much like past Corvettes at Carlisle shows, the booth was set up with installation in mind. With the help of Rose Detailing, ACAP Films, Blackout Tinting, and Detail Authority, [email protected] participants received the best XPEL products right on site. As the days went on, cars lined up at the back of the tent for ULTIMATE coverage & PRIME XR window film. Our dealers worked around the clock to ensure each Vette received the best protection possible. We received a lot of praise for their efforts, and truly we couldn't have done it without them. Multiple installs a day non-stop for hours on end can take a toll, but these guys put in work to make sure everyone was well taken care of. Corvettes at Carlisle Video Recap Want to see more of the happenings of [email protected] in action? Check out the video recap for a little bit of everything you may have missed. Burnouts, bikinis, and just about every type of Vette imaginable can be seen gracing the fairgrounds. DON'T MISS OUT ON THE NEXT XPEL EXTRAVAGANZA If you haven't had a chance to team up with us at a local event, open house, or car show, there's another opportunity coming up. In February we'll be hosting XDC18, our exclusive dealer-only conference at the home of all things XPEL, San Antonio. It's going to be unlike any Dealer Conference we've hosted before, with a brand new location, engaging breakout sessions, and unique keynote presentations. Sound up your ally? Barrett-Jackson North East 2017 with Automobilia Auto Salon

Last week marked our second year at the Mohegan Sun & the third Barrett-Jackson of 2017. With a wide variety of vehicles on display and a unique auction layout, Barrett-Jackson North East was exciting as ever. Of course, having something special in our booth always helps too! On Location at Barrett-Jackson North East with a Shelby GT350R While the Scottsdale, West Palm, and Vegas auctions feature various display halls & tents, the Mohegan Sun show is a bit more confined. In any case, a large event space is being constructed to house the show in coming years. By the time 2018 rolls around, the scale of Barrett-Jackson North East will be massive. Be that as it may, we arrived roaring to go. Our friends from Automobilia Auto Salon helped secure an awesome vehicle for the show. Incidentally, our booth's position was at the edge of the Chevy display, but of course, we brought out a Blue Oval. None other than one stunning Shelby GT350R. Equipped with full front ULTIMATE paint protection, the GT350R was an attention getter. In any case, the real surprise for attendees came from the ULTIMATE self-healing demonstration. Many people at the show were familiar with XPEL products, but few had experienced them first hand. With a few swipes of a wire brush, ULTIMATE's powers wowed the crowds. Demons, Warbirds, and Carbon, Oh My! Despite Barrett-Jackson being auction centric, manufacturer booths have quite the draw. The big three were all in attendance with a variety of models, but Dodge and Ford seemed to be the main contenders. All things considered, we could have spent all day starring down the Dodge Demon Challenger. It was the first time any of us had seen one up close, and it's definitely a looker. The massive air grabber and supercharger. The bulbous fenders & distinct badging. The meaty Nitto NT05R tires. No doubt, the Demon Challenger's approach is not for the faint of heart. Outside the main pavilion, Ford was showing off one of its latest & greatest as well. Stunning as ever, the new Ford GT spun on its carousel wearing a brilliant silver finish with exposed carbon stripes. The stripe wasn't the only bit of exposed carbon work either. It was a bit hard to spot from the edge of the velvet ropes, but the Ford GT's wheels were optioned in bare carbon fiber. Weighing in a full two pounds lighter than the forged aluminum variant, the carbon wheels are functionally gorgeous. They add an extra $15k to the GT's sticker price, but will reduce rolling inertia by a whopping 25 percent. At any rate, that's money well spent. A few steps away, a second R sat parallel to a no-stripe GT350. The R looked great dressed in all black with matte stripes, and the standardized Shelby was no slouch. Inside, the brand new 2018 Mustang GT wore white as well. With a little extra aero & a blacked out grill, the white GT stood out much better than the drop top that was at Palm Beach. Our friends at ROUSH Performance held down the corner of the main pavilion with a few beauties too. Most notably, their new P-51 Mustang. Inspired by the famous warbird of its namesake, the ROUSH P-51 is putting the Hellcat on notice. Pushing a whopping 727 HP, the special edition 'Stang is the most powerful American pre-titled car ever built. According to ROUSH, only 51 will enter production with a retail price of $42,500 over the base 2017 Mustang GT. There may have not been as many exotics up for auction as previous Barrett-Jacksons, but the few in attendance didn't disappoint. A new Ferrari 488 Spider was on site and later sold for a whopping $434 thousand and change. Along side it, a Mercedes SLR McLaren and a few of Lamborghini's finest waited their turn to cross the blocks. Ironically, one of the most unique cars on display at Barrett-Jackson North East wasn't for sale. We spotted it on the way in during our setup day, but didn't know it would be in attendance. Sprayed with a unique shade of Lamborghini Arancio, a highly modified FD3S RX-7 took many show goers by surprise. At a glance, one might even mistake it for a kit car thanks to rare RE-Amemiya bodywork & a Porsche front end conversion. In all actuality, the FD was a 2016 SEMA Super Street Top Honors winner. Around the grounds Beyond the main sponsor displays, the buzz of Barrett-Jackson North East continued. Quite a few of our fellow vendors has brought out some exceptional examples to ogle at. The cars up for auction in the main tent were as diverse as previous events. We spotted quite a few off-roaders from classic FJs to Jeeps, Land Rovers, and even one monster truck. A variety of Porsches were also up for grabs, along with a white on white Nissan R32. As usual, Chevy, Dodge, and Ford were throwing down with a selection of ride & drive events. It would have been nice to see a live demo of the Demon Challenger, but we're guessing Mohegan Sun has a safety clause against popping wheelies. Another favorite from Barrett-Jackson North East came from none other than Callaway Cars. The Corvette Aerowagen is a polarizing design no doubt, but we fell in love at first sight. Even Chris Jacobs seemed intrigued. After all, it's a modern day shooting brake with the performance numbers to back it up. The Aerowagen blends everything awesome about a C7 with a feel that's reminiscent of the late, great, CTS-V estate. Is it sacrilege to wish it had a roof box & air suspension? Perhaps. Either way, the want is strong. A Parking Garage Presentation Bound for the Blocks In addition to the auction cars outside the main hall, there was quite a bit to see housed in the Mohegan Sun garage. Comprised of around 4 floors of display vehicles, the setup made navigating the auction's lots a breeze.   We spotted a fine selection of classic BMWs in the garage. An exceptional example of the 4-door E36 M3 sat in the shadows of the bottom floor with less than 30k on the clock. A few floors up, a clean 1980 635 CSI & vintage 1800 looked as OEM as ever. Between a Fiat Jolly Custom, a few Minis and an Amphicar, there was no shortage of microcars either. The Jolly had a lot of personality, and the crowds loved it. Of the three, it tipped the docket just shy of a $43k sale price. Lot diversity is becoming a strong trait for the auction series. The events might be more catered towards a collector car audience, but there's truly something for everyone. Even John Deere made an appearance at Barrett-Jackson North East. A handful of exotics has found their way into the Mohegan garage as well. Among them was a well kept Ferrari 348 TS accompanied by a black F430 Spider a couple spaces away. In addition to the stallions, DuPont Registry was showing off an absolute stunner. A brand new McLaren 720S sitting pretty with the doors up, finished in a unique pearl grey with tan hides. We're big fans of the 720, so it was great to get up close with one outside of an install bay. At the top of the garage along an outer corridor, we stumbled upon another set of R's. A '92 GT-R and anther Shelby GT350-R to be precise. The all silver Nissan had plenty of desirable upgrades without going overboard. Of course, the Mustang looked great finished in XPEL Yellow too! After a short walk through the casino, we found our way to the auction blocks. Even though we didn't arrive during prime time, the energy inside the Mohegan Sun Arena was electric. With upper level seats filled & bids flying, we caught as much of the action as we could before heading back to the booth. Wrapping Up Barrett-Jackson North East Ultimately, our trip to Barrett-Jackson North East was an enjoyable one. We had a great time with the team from Automobilia Auto Salon, and their assistance in educating the public about XPEL was fundamental. While we won't be in attendance at Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas this year, we've already got it on our list for 2018. If we're lucky, maybe we'll even wind up with a new Ford GT or Demon of our very own to show off in the XPEL booth!   XPEL at Barrett-Jackson North East - Full Photo Gallery

Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach 2017: Camaros, Corvettes & Clear Bra

For the collector car enthusiast, there's no better event series than Barrett-Jackson. Touted as "The World's Greatest Collector Car Auction," it's nothing short of a spectacle. As National Sponsors, we're always excited when auction season starts. The Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach show may not be the largest of what the auctions have to offer, the experience this year was top-notch. Bringing Black Rose Metallic to Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach While there's always plenty of cool cars to see at Barrett-Jackson, we love bringing something unique to display. For instance, this year we welcomed a brand new Chevy Corvette into the booth. By and large, the Corvette is easily our most popular candidate for clear bra coverage. They're a great car for highlighting the importance of high-impact protection, and it doesn't hurt that they're nice to look at too. The variant that accompanied us to Palm Beach was none other than a 2017 Black Rose Metallic Z06. Color-wise, we couldn't have asked for a more stellar selection. Discontinued in the early 90s and revived for 2017, the paint seemed to surprise & delight everyone who passed by. Many questions arose about the origins of the Corvette's finish, and in turn, the benefits of protecting such a unique hue with clear bra. Surveys, Giveaways & Self-Healing Film Demos Another highlight of the XPEL experience at Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach was our new survey platform. To liven things up, we created a custom questionnaire for attendees to complete while they visited the booth. Everyone who participated received a complimentary microfiber towel. one lucky show-goer even won a car care kit valued at $75! We also had quite a few people interested in the self-healing power and installation of XPEL ULTIMATE. There's something about first hand film handling that proves the value of paint protection. Thanks to local installers from Zen Auto Concepts & the Sign Savers, we had fresh clear bra on our demo hood daily, ready to take a beating. Show Cars & Top Sellers Beyond the XPEL booth, the massive manufacturer displays loomed. Dodge brought out an eye-catching satin purple Viper, but all eyes were on the simulator. Positioned on motion-sensitive actuators, the Viper SRT sim is no joke. The system relays real-time force feedback for a accurate adaptation of road racing. We didn't have a chance to try it out for ourselves, but judging by the wait line it was a big hit with spectators! Be that as it may, the real bread winner of Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach came with a bowtie. We're not talking fashion accessories either. Chevrolet brought out the very first example of their high-performance Camaro, the 2018 ZL1 1LE. With a revised carbon aero package, adjustable suspension and 650hp, Chevy calls it the "most track-capable Camaro ever." It's exactly the type of turn-key monster that's worthy of ULTIMATE paint protection. We had the pleasure of watching the ZL1 1LE cross the blocks during primetime on Friday. The stage filled up so quick it was next to impossible to even see the car. If you're following us on instagram, you may have caught a glimpse of it during a brief live stream. In a matter of minutes, we witnessed the new monster Camaro hammer down at a whopping $250,000. That may seem like a bit of sticker shock, but 100% of the Camaro's proceeds went to charity benefiting United Way. Of course, part of the draw of an event like Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach is the sheer variety of cars. Ordinarily, one may think of "collector cars" as something more akin to classics or muscle. On the whole, there's something for everyone. From resto-mods to time capsules, wild exotics and even a number of off-roaders, Barrett-Jackson has it all. Walking the grounds, we saw a couple GT-Rs, a vintage Land Cruiser, and even Sung Kang's Ford Maverick from SEMA. Between the tents of auction cars, Bentley had new models on display including the new Bentayga. If you're in the market, we've already got quite a variety of coverage options available in our database! If exotics are what you're after, Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach has you covered too. Back in the farthest corner of the auction vehicle display tents, there's a small building. Inside this building you'll find some real heavy hitters. An Aston Martin Vanquish, Rolls-Royce Phantom, and Ferrari F430 were front & center this year. A few steps away, we found ourselves face to face with some of ROUSH's finest. We're always excited to see what ROUSH brings to the table at Barrett Jackson. In the booth, two new performance Mustangs flanked either side of a monstrous F-150. With a slew of upgraded components & a throaty side-exit exhaust system, the ROUSH F-150 is a perfect support vehicle for track days or road rallies. Back inside the main pavilion we also spied a brand new DB11 and McLaren 570s on display. We've seen a number of the new Astons receiving ULTIMATE paint protection lately, and it's a thing of beauty. On top of that, our latest install video features a stunning 570S at XPEL Houston. Be sure to check it out if you haven't had a chance yet! Just across from our booth, Ford Motor Company had quite the selection of vehicles to check out too. Despite not showing off the new GT, the blue oval exhibit was buzzing with action. An "XPEL Yellow" Shelby GT350 attracted a lot of onlookers, but the real special guest was up on a turn table. At the far corner of Ford's display sat a brand new 2018 Mustang GT convertible. We'd seen it in press photos, but this was the first time viewing one in the flesh. It's sharp - with less visible plastics & angular, revised facia, the new Mustang looks, dare we say it, Fisker-esque. It will be interesting to see how the various iterations of Ford's latest pony car shape up. One thing's for sure, we'll have paint protection patterns for the new Mustang in our database in no time! Wrapping up Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach All things considered, our time in Palm Beach was well spent. The auction environment is an exciting one to be in whether your buying, selling, or simply enjoying the event. We'll be packing up & heading out to Barrett-Jackson NorthEast soon, so be on the lookout if you're in the area! XPEL at Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach - Full Photo Gallery
