Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale 2018 with SmartShield

For our first adventure on the road in the new year, we made it out to Arizona for Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale. As usual, the world's greatest collector car auction was a weeklong dream of classics, incredible charity sales, and plenty of new releases to see. With over 1,700 vehicles going up for sale at Barrett-Jackson alone, you'd be hard pressed to not find something you like during Arizona Car Week. XPEL On Location Accompanied by the good people from Arizona's very own Smart Shield, we posted up with a black & yellow Chevy Corvette Z06. While the Corvette attracted a lot of attention from onlookers, ULTIMATE's self-healing powers took center stage. Thanks to the help of our on-site installation experts, the paint protection film demos never stopped. Being in good company is just one of the many perks of having a booth at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale. Across the walkway, Tesla Motors drew a crowd with their popular Model S & X. Hopefully the Model 3 & Roadster will make an appearance next time around. A few steps away, we spotted a selection of ULTIMATE protected beauties from McLaren Scottsdale. It's always nice to stumble across other displays showing off XPEL products. It's even better when it's a fully wrapped metallic blue 570. Breaking Records on the Blocks Of all the auto auctions during Arizona Car Week, Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale draws some of the biggest numbers. Various charity vehicles raised over $6 million in sales this year, with a new Ford GT that went for $2.5 million alone. Other notable charity cars included the first 2019 Bullitt Mustang for $300k, and the new Corvette ZR1 that hammered down just shy of $1 million. No doubt, it wouldn't be Barrett-Jackson without plenty of oddities for sale. From a lifted hot rod Hearse to a 6x6 armored personnel carrier, there was no shortage of unique pieces to be had. One favorite was none other than a fully operational hot tub. The Cadillac "Car Pool" Deville sold for around $30k. Can you think of a more relaxing way to commute after a long day at the office? An Awesome Auction Assemblage While Barrett is the go-to place for restomods and American classics, we spotted quite a few imports on deck too. A handful of Nissan GT-R R32s were present, along with an original first gen Civic. It might not have been up for auction, but another notable attendee at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale was just down the hall. Sporting VIN #0001 and a mere ~600 miles on the clock, a very rare McLaren P1 GTR stopped show-goers in their tracks. We would have expected to see the some velvet ropes around the first production ZR1, but it sat relatively unattended. Among other heavy hitters inside the halls of the Sponsor Pavilion, the new super Vette seemed right at home. A buyer would be hard pressed to find more performance per dollar than a Corvette. Needless to say, we're intrigued to see what kind of numbers the unreleased mid-engine variant puts down. Here's hoping they bring one out to Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale 2019. So Long, Scottsdale Once again, attending Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale was an awesome experience. Watching the sales unfold is a sight to behold, but interacting with auction-goers & educating the masses on the importance of protecting their collectables is just as valuable. Preservation of paint is a vital part of ownership, and we're proud to be a part of the equation each year. Special thanks the team from Smart Shield Protection Film, as well as Albert Borboa from Porsche Chandler & David Dilorenzo from Deluxe Detail for helping out at the booth. We couldn't have done it without you guys. Thanks for reading!

The 2017 International Window Film Conference in West Palm Beach

A few weeks before we brought a Bugatti Chiron to SEMA in Las Vegas, we found ourselves in West Palm Beach. Window Film Mag kicked off the annual International Window Film Conference & Tint-Off, and as a Diamond Plus sponsor, you know we had to bring the heat. Beyond XDC, International Window Film Conference & Tint-Off is one of the few events dedicated entirely to the film industry. In its 17th year, the WFCT has grown in scope & scale, highlighting the latest product releases, informational seminars, and an intense install competition. Velos Design Works McLaren 570S on Display at the XPEL Booth Thanks to our friends from The Sign Savers in Miami, we were lucky to have another awesome vehicle on display. Wrapped & protected with ULTIMATE clear bra, the Velos Design Works McLaren 570S was a serious attention grabber. Pushing an excess of 560HP with a top speed just north of 200mph, there's no denying that the papaya orange 570S was the most high performance ride on the floors of WFCT. The other stars of the International Window Film Conference were, you guessed it: our new window films! Along with the soft launch of our VISION Architectural Line, many attendees had a chance to play with PRIME. Offering incredible UV protection & heat rejection, PRIME XR is a serious contender for anyone seeking a high performance window tint option. The Window Film Mag team caught up with our very own Eric Keller to touch briefly on both products in a Day 1 video recap - check out the full clip here. VISION: A New Outlook on Architectural Window Films Just as PRIME is rapidly becoming a go-to for automotive tinters around the world, our VISION series seeks to take the flat glass industry by storm. With an array of architectural glass solutions available, the VISION portfolio is diverse. Need safety or security film? We've got you covered. Searching for a decorative or anti-graffiti application? Look no further. Our VISION series can give you a new outlook on architectural film like no other. Head over to the product page for more info or request a spec sheet today. The Paint Protection Competition and Tint-Off Of course, it wouldn't be the International Window Film Conference without an install competition. There were a handful of XPEL supporters in the WFCT showdown this year, and a few even made it to the finals. Shout out to Jameel from ACE Custom Signs & Dustin from MidWest Tinting for putting XPEL products at the forefront of the competition, and congrats to Andrew & Kyle from Oz Braz for bringing home the gold! Rightfully so, workmanship & finish quality will always supersede brand rivalries. As one of the judges of the PPF installation competition, lead trainer & installation specialist Alex Valencia made sure only the top qualifiers continued on. ONE CONFERENCE TO RULE THEM ALL Miss out on competing during the WFCT? There's another showdown on the horizon. The 2018 XPEL Dealer Conference is coming up, and we've got a competition in the works that will test the limits of any installer. Head over to xpel.com/dealerconference & get your entry locked in before it's too late.
